How can travel trigger migraine?

Going on a trip can be as exciting as it is stressful — especially if you’re worried about migraine getting in the way. Limited food options, a disrupted sleep pattern from red eye flights and jet lag, and weather pressure and altitude changes can each contribute to the potential of a migraine attack getting in the way.

How do travel triggers affect people with migraine?

In a survey conducted by Condé Nast, 500 respondents who have been diagnosed with migraine by a healthcare provider and who were interested in travel were asked about how travel affects their migraine experience. Here’s what they said:

37

percent

of respondents said traveling was a trigger for their migraine. Stress and anxiety (65%), dehydration (63%) and noisiness (62%) were the top triggers.

94

percent

of respondents said the thought of a migraine attack while traveling was either very stressful (57%) or somewhat stressful (37%).

89

percent

of respondents said they had to delay or cancel travel plans due to migraine.

Nurtec ODT can be taken whenever, wherever you are, so patients can treat and prevent migraine attacks, even while traveling.

The first time I traveled to Europe alone, I started having migraine attacks due to stress of not knowing the local language, and not knowing anyone or what to do. Now that I take Nurtec ODT, I have fewer migraine attacks while traveling.
